The Predator 228 Full Review
The new WISMEC Predator 228 has been strategically scheduled so that it can water down the very popular Smok Alien mod. This sharp looking mod resembles the Alien in many ways, featuring a captivating big screen and dual 18650s in addition to some other cool features.
SMOK’s Alien kit was no doubt a great success, but the Predator 228, which is already available online, seems set to give the established name a run for its money. It has been designed by Sinuous Designs, located in the USA, and comes with a stylish and tactile look. It also has intuitive controls and comes in a kit format featuring the Elabo tank, which is hit or miss depending on who you listen too! This makes it miss our list of the best electronic cigarettes, but there’s more to it than that, let’s look further.
The predator 228 is a representative of one of the most aggressive projects Wismec has ever undertaken, consisting of a vertical based design and a squeeze to fire mechanism so as to ease the use and handling of the device. The Predator 228 integrates WISMEC’s newest chipset with a wattage output rated at 1W to 228W and supports all the way from 0.1 ohms to 3.5 ohms. This is boosted by a technology that enhances steady power output. There is also support for temperature control, with the natively supported materials being Stainless Steel, Titanium and Ni200 Nickel which you can read about here, in addition to an adjustable TCR support.
LED Display
There is a centrally placed LED display with a vertical display stack featuring well-organized sections for easy readability of components like the battery life meters. A look beneath the screen shows a rocker adjustment switch.
The easy to read LED screen is meant to retain all the temperature and wattage control in your hands while keeping you up to date with the latest from your battery. The push control buttons for temperature and wattage are easily reachable – found just under the LED screen. The push-to-fire button, on the other hand, is retained at its ideal position – the device’s side.
The ergonomically designed Predator 228 is meant for you to hold it in the palm of your hands at your own discretion while vaping. You can get it in a variety of colors, including white, black, red, silver and gold as shown in the picture below.
Replaceable 18650 Batteries
The predator 228 is powered by two 18650 batteries that are replaceable both of whom add up to an output of 228 watts – no wonder the name. This superb source of power compares favorably with other mods in the market sold at the price, that is $70 including an Elabo tank.
Just like a number of latest premium mods, the 228W has a plated mini USB port with a fast charging capability. However, for an effective full battery charge, just remove the batteries from the device and use an external charger. If you happen to buy an RC adapter, then count yourself lucky because, with this combination, the predator 228 can be used to power other devices thanks to the RC adapter.
The size of the predator makes it easy to carry, measuring 87mm by 44mm and has a compact design yet still featuring within it the latest technology to create a perfect vapor. Granted it’s not the perfect vape for people who want to quit smoking, but for more experienced vapers this is a great mod.
You are in charge of your device and in recognition of this; you are at liberty to make adjustments to the temperature and wattage to meet your own needs. The temperature ranges from 200 Fahrenheit to 600 Fahrenheit which you can also adjust, depending on the type of e-liquid in the spacious tank.
Superb Elabo Tank
As already pointed out, the predator 228 has been made compatible with the Elabo tank which is able to hold up to 4.9ml. This means you get enough e-liquid to push you throughout the day or even the next, depending on your usage.
With every single use, you will create enormous vapor clouds, even if you are a starting vaper.
Refilling this tank is pretty much easy. Just remove the mouthpiece and then slide off the top cap to create the way for refilling the e-liquid. Safety is also guaranteed since the kid is child-proof for the avoidance of accidental opening. The airflow controls allow you to regulate the vapor by either increasing air flow into the Elabo tank or decreasing it. Fully open the controls to form even much bigger clouds of vapor.

Our Conclusion
The Wismec Predator 228 is not exactly the best-looking mod out there and isn’t on our list of the best box mods for one main reason; the tank! Although the mod’s features do exactly what you want, when you want, we were just a little underwhelmed with the performance of the vapor and taste. However, after changing the tank to an RTA this thing came alive! At the end of the day, it is a great mod, the feel is great and it has the potential to be great!
