Joyetech Ocular C Box Mod Review by SmokeTastic
7.1 Final ScoreJoyetech Ocular C Review Bottom Line Joyetech have released one of the first box mods with multi-functions that includes an mp3 player, pedometer, image gallery, puff analysis, storage device and more, but for this you get a heavier and slightly bigger box mod. If you like this sort of thing then it might be worth while, as the box mod does perform really well. We thought that the screen resolution is no where near as good as the latest phones, so really lacked the support for this mod, that said the actual vape quality of this mod is really good; albeit with a slightly heavier feel! Recommended store: Buy the mod from Vapor4Life. |
Full In-depth Review of the Joyetech Ocular C Box Mod
Box mods just keep getting better and better, as new technologies and innovations in design continue to push the envelope on cutting-edge vaping equipment. Joyetech is one of those companies that’s leading the charge in that regard, as they’ve been releasing some truly impressive products recently. One of their newest releases is a product line called Ocular, which is being offered in the base Ocular model and the Ocular C version. In this Joyetech Ocular C Box Mod review, we’ll examine this new mod and try to better understand why there’s so much hype surrounding its release.
The Ocular and Ocular C
Before we get into the specifics of the Ocular C, it’s important to understand what makes it different from the base Ocular model. Evidently, the only real difference is that the two models rely on different batteries and have different wattages. The Ocular C is a 150-watt unit set up to use two 18650 mod batteries, while the base model is an 80-watt mod that relies on an internal 50000 mAh power source. Other than that distinction, they are basically identical.
The Design and Features
From a design standpoint, anyone looking for new-age aesthetics will be pleased to see just how sleek and attractive this device really is in comparison with some of the best e cigs out there. On the surface, it might seem like any other mod – with recognizable features like an easy-to-locate fire button and a door with reliable hinges. As befitting the trend toward more cutting-edge technologies, however, the Ocular C’s simplicity of design masks a full array of features that are sure to delight tech lovers.
For example, the device comes with a 1.68-inch touchscreen – and who doesn’t appreciate a great touchscreen, right? – with an impressive resolution that makes it easy to read all the various bits of information, your device is going to be carrying? What kind of information, you ask? Well, that’s where things really get interesting. You see, the Ocular models come with 2GB of storage space that you can use to store all your favorite songs and photos. And yes, the device has a built-in mp3 player, headphone jack, and image viewer.
And if you’re not satisfied with just listening to music or viewing pictures, it has some interesting tracking capabilities that might appeal to you as well. There’s a pedometer to help you track your footsteps – an important feature for the health-conscious among us. There’s also a vape counter that allows you to set limits on your vaping activities by entering a maximum daily puff limit. In other words, this isn’t just a vaping device; it’s a personal assistant!
Performance
At the end of the day, though, vapers care most about the actual vaping experience. The Ocular C does well in that regard, as it provided plenty of sustained, reliable power for our vaping tests. We especially enjoyed the way that this device sprang to life without any delays when we pushed the fire button. According to the company, you can even increase the maximum wattage by installing the latest firmware upgrade. That new firmware increases wattage to 200 watts.
On the downside, we struggled to get the device to continue to play songs properly while we were vaping. It plays perfectly well when the vaping features are not being used, but threw a bit of a fit when we turned on the music during our vaping experience. That was a disappointment. In addition, we did have to exercise tremendous care while operating the touchscreen. The sensitivity settings are a little too high for our liking, and we ended up changing certain settings by accident.
Overall, though, there’s little to dislike about this mod. It’s packed with features, has one of the nicest touchscreen displays we’ve seen in some time, and provides the type of reliable power that every vaping enthusiast needs to have a successful and enjoyable vaping session. We also found that it works well with a variety of different tanks, and that’s always important for those who like to mix and match components for a more customized experience.
Final Thoughts
Aside from the music playback issue and overly-sensitive touchscreen, we found this to be a pretty good vaping device that should be a welcome addition to vapers’ collections. It’s also another fine example of what vaping devices should be in a world where everyone seems to want all their high-tech devices to do as many different things as possible. If you’re in the market for a feature full vaping product, we’d recommend that you give the Joyetech Ocular C box mod a try. It doesn’t quite meet, in vaping performance and aesthetics to the SMOK Alien kit, but as an all rounder it’s up there with the best!
