Aspire Nautilus 2 Re-Envisioned For The Forgotten Vaper
Let’s take a look at the Aspire Nautilus 2 vape tank. If you have been around vaping for any length of time you are no doubt aware of the original Aspire Nautilus. The original Nautilus was a game changer. That’s something that people always say and often saying that has no real meaning. But the term ‘game changer’ does apply to the Nautilus and BVC, bottom vertical coil, design. The adjustable airflow and impressive vaping moved the ball significantly for the entire industry.
Aspire went on to create the Atlantis vape tank which changed subohm vaping forever. Innovation is nothing new for Aspire Electronic Cigarettes. My own personal Aspire Nautilus is over 2 years old and I am still using it. Sometimes I prefer MTL vaping. Especially when I am out and about. I want to observe vaping etiquette by not cloud chasing that might make others feel uncomfortable. I am very happy to see a new Nautilus.
You know, it’s tough out there for MTL vapers. Many vape shops only carry VG e-liquids for subohm or temp control vaping. Finding a 50/50 e-liquid for standard MTL vaping means going online only. That’s fine with me anyway because you do get better deals and fresher product when you buy online. Point is that it seems like MTL vapers or dual vapers, despite our large numbers, are being largely forgotten and left behind. Perhaps not anymore.

Something New For The Forgotten MTL Vapers
In the vaping world things move very, very quickly. Most of the innovative focus has been in the area of subohm or temperature control vaping. Or more specifically, the pursuit of bigger and bigger vapor clouds. That’s great! We enjoy that very much and it is a great time to be a vaper. But, statistics show there are still many vapers that prefer MTL vaping.
MTL vaping is mouth to lung vaping. This is when you draw the vapor into your mouth and then inhale. Much like the way you smoke a cigarette. Generally with subohm or temp control vaping with low resistance atomizers people prefer DL vaping. DL means direct lung. With direct lung vaping you draw the vapor directly into your lungs. This means you can inhale much more vapor and exhale massive clouds using VG e-liquids.

The Aspire Nautilus 2 is one of the few new products that are designed for MTL vapers. You can use a basic mod, you will never need more that 25 watts. One of the coil options is 0.7 ohms but that too is for MTL vaping. Well now that I am getting into the coils I’ll take a time out and backtrack here. Let’s do a quick Aspire Nautilus 2 review.
Aspire Nautilus 2 Review
A quick Aspire Nautilus 2 review. Well, I’ll try and keep it quick! The Aspire Nautilus 2 vape tank has a 22 mm diameter and stands 53 mm tall. It is constructed of stainless steel and has an aluminum sleeve that fits over the glass tank. There are 5 airflow settings that you can dial in using the rotating wheel at the bast of the tank. E-liquid capacity is 2 ml.
The vape chimney is shorter than the original Nautilus. And the drip tip is also shorter. The intention is to bring you closer to the coils to increase the flavor sensation. The 510 connection is spring loaded to ensure a strong contact with your mod. The base has been redesigned to be leak proof.
There are four different colors that you can choose from. You can get stainless steel, black, red or grey. The price should be in the $25 to $30 range. The Nautilus 2 and original Nautilus coils are interchangeable.
The Aspire Nautilus 2 kit comes with the tank, a pre-installed 0.7 ohm tank, a 1.8 ohm coil, an extra glass tube and an extra drip tip.
Aspire Nautilus 2 Coils
To make clear for our Aspire Nautilus 2 review we can confirm that the new coils are compatible with the original and vice versa. If you see in the image above the recommended wattage settings are displayed on the side of the coils. That will be very helpful for many vapers. The o.7 ohm coil works best at 18 watts to 23 watts. The 1.8 ohm coil works best at 10 watts to 14.2 watts.
If you are using a variable voltage mod, ECCR recommends 3.2 volts to 4.2 volts.
The new Aspire Nautilus 2 coils are a bottom vertical coil, BVC, design. Just like the originals. When Aspire first launched the BVC coils they were an instant hit and remain very popular to this day. The bottom vertical coils deliver excellent MTL vaping.
Refilling The Aspire Nautilus 2
The Aspire Nautilus 2 is a top fill tank but not quite the same as most of today’s top fill designs. rather than a rotating cap that twists open, the Aspire Nautilus 2 tank has a removable top that thread off so you can easily drop in your e-liquid. This is a much quicker, easier and cleaner refill process than the original.
With the original Nautilus you have to remove the tank from the mod, turn it upside down and then remove the base. Once the base is removed you can drip in your chosen e-juice. I use a Nautilus all the time and it is not a big deal to refill but there is no doubt that the refill process for the Nautilus 2 is much more streamlined and simple.
With MTL and standard vaping you will want to use a standard or 50/50 e-liquid. That is a 70 PG / 30 VG, standard, or a 50 VG / 50 PG vape juice blend. As I mentioned earlier the best place to get standard and 50/50 is online because most shops these days, at least in my area, are only carrying VG liquids for subohm or temperature control vaping. Using a VG e-liquid will not be ideal and will potentially gum up the coils reducing longevity and performance. Stick with 50/50 or standard.

At VaporFi you can get any flavor in standard 70/30 or 50/50. We recommend the 50/50.
Difference Between Nautilus 2 And Original
Here are the main differences between the Nautilus 2 and the original Aspire Nautilus tank.
- The Nautilus 2 has a top-fill design vs a bottom fill with the original.
- The 2.0 version has 5 airflow settings instead of 4.
- A shorter chimney and drip tip.
- The Nautilus 2 is leak proof and has a 2 ml capacity making it TPD compliant like the Aspire Nautilus X.
- Coils compatible with original, a new 0.7 ohm option.
- The top cap is a metal frame that fits over the Pyrex glass tank.
If you live in a European Union nation one difference is that the 2 ml capacity and redesigned leak-proof base make this product compatible with EU vaping regulations. But what are the biggest differences that the Nautilus 2 will make to your vaping vs the original Aspire Nautilus?
The two biggest differences that you will notice if you switch from the Nautilus to the Aspire Nautilus 2 are the shorter chimney and additional airflow setting. The extra airflow setting gives you an easier draw option. Really you can customize your preferred draw but the extra large airflow port is a nice addition. When you will really notice the difference when vaping is in the vapor and flavor. The shorter chimney and drip tip bring you closer to the coils increasing the flavor sensation.
Final Thoughts
That’s all we have for now on the Aspire Nautilus 2 review. The product is not widely available yet so ECCR is projecting on the performance based on the specs. We look forward to actually trying it out because this just may be the new MTL tank that we have been waiting for. Aspire has an excellent track record of imporving performance with each generation of their products. For example the Atlantis has evolved into the Aspire Atlantis Evo vape tank which is currently one of our favorites.
Once we actually have one we will update this page with more details. Including where to get one! It always takes us some time, research and consideration to recommend a vendor. We want to make sure to direct you to a source where you will get full value and, most importantly, an authentic product. Believe me, Aspire Nautilus 2 clones are going to be everywhere. We will not recommend a vendor until we can assure you that you will be getting the real thing at the best price.
So, exciting! I enjoy both DL and MTL vaping as many do. I am very happy to see a new MTL tank that I expect to be an excellent, flavorful vape.
